ADA Accessible units for events
Under the 2010 ADA Standards, wherever portable toilets are grouped together for public use, at least 5% of them, and never fewer than one, must be accessible.
| Total units in cluster | ADA units required |
| 1 – 20 | 1 |
| 21 – 40 | 2 |
| 41 – 60 | 3 |
| Each additional 20 | +1 |
- Ground-level, ramp-free entry
- 60" interior turning space for wheelchairs
- Grab bars and 17–19" seat height
- Marked with the International Symbol of Accessibility
- Should sit on firm, level ground on an accessible route

OSHA Job site requirements
OSHA 1926.51 requires toilets on every construction site based on crew size:
| Workers | Minimum facilities |
| 20 or fewer | 1 toilet |
| 21 – 199 | 1 toilet seat + 1 urinal per 40 workers |
| 200+ | 1 toilet seat + 1 urinal per 50 workers |
- Industry sizing assumes a 40-hour week. Add units for longer shifts
- Hand-washing must be available on site
- Units need regular servicing to stay sanitary (weekly is standard)
